When you suffer from a mental health disorder, you may feel like you are all alone with the symptoms you are experiencing. These illnesses strike men, women and children alike and their onset can significantly alter a person’s mood, relationships and healthy ways of thinking. They have a direct impact on a person’s quality of life and may interfere with both their professional and personal goals.
When mental illness and a substance addiction are coupled, it is known as a dual diagnosis. A combination of conditions is more challenging to treat since both disorders must be addressed to ensure a healthy and successful recovery. Avalon Malibu is equipped to handle clients with both a primary mental health diagnosis or a dual diagnosis. Through our integrated approach to mental health and addiction treatment, we create a comprehensive plan to meet your individual needs and provide you with the utmost support through your stay with us.
Avalon Malibu’s breathtaking oceanside location features world-class treatment and uncompromised confidentiality. Our Grand House is licensed to treat mental health, while our Cottage is licensed to treat both chemical addiction and co-occurring disorders. We are one of the few facilities licensed to treat mental health in the area, as most centers are only licensed to treat addiction. Our attention to the mental disorder first and foremost allows our therapists to reach the underlying issues that contributed to the addiction to provide more effective treatment therapies and a more successful recovery overall.
Avalon Malibu features two beautiful homes designed to feature top-quality care in a private environment rooted in hospitality:
The Grand House
Our Grand House is a residential mental health treatment center licensed by the Department of Social Services (DSS), accredited by the Joint Commission (JCHAO) and certified by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). Using mindfulness-based therapies combined with psychotherapy and expressive therapies, our comprehensive program offers hope to patients that have not had success through other treatment programs as well as those seeking treatment for the first time.
The Cottage House
Our Cottage House is our addiction treatment center, licensed and certified by the California Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (ADP) and accredited by the Joint Commission (JCHAO). At this facility, we are equipped to provide detoxification services when needed. Our comprehensive program includes education, therapy, family integration, 12-step and non-12 step approaches along with a variety of holistic activities that allow us to tailor each treatment to the unique needs of our clients.
