Outpatient treatment is another option we provide for addiction and mental health treatment, whether one is just starting out in recovery or transitioning down from a more concentrated inpatient program. The greatest advantage to outpatient programs is that they allow you to maintain your professional job and family obligations while working on your recovery or maintaining your new-found sobriety. There are different levels of outpatient care, which provides you with the choices necessary to tailor your treatment to your needs and schedule.

Options in Outpatient Programs

We offer three levels of outpatient treatment through our New Vista Behavioral Health centers:

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

This program consists of six hours of daily treatment at one of our outpatient facilities. During that time, clients participate in educational sessions, individual and group counseling and medical support if necessary. You will also connect with community groups that can support your long-term sobriety.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP)

This service also requires you to be at our center for multiple hours a day, but the schedule is less rigorous than PHP. You can choose between morning or evening sessions, allowing you to tailor your treatment around your daily schedule. The program runs from five to eight weeks per session and incorporates education, a variety of therapeutic modalities and medical support as needed. Clients are requested to attend three to five 12-step meetings or other support groups weekly.

Outpatient Treatment

This treatment style is the least rigorous of the outpatient programs offered by New Vista Behavioral Health. Clients can fit treatment sessions into their current schedules without a significant disruption to their professional or personal obligations.

Variety of Locations

New Vista Behavioral Health includes a variety of outpatient options at all our treatment centers:

  • Avalon Malibu features IOP and outpatient services
  • Avalon Integrative Wellness, our IOP center in Malibu, California, offers a diverse and comprehensive treatment program

Our facilities are prepared to work with clients dealing with addiction, mental health and co-occurring disorders. We are happy to help you decide on the right program for your particular needs and circumstances.

Benefits of Outpatient Treatment

There are several benefits you can receive by entering an outpatient program at a New Vista Behavioral Health facility:

  • Ability to manage professional and personal responsibilities during recovery
  • Variety of therapies to choose from, allowing you to tailor your treatment to your needs
  • Provides a smooth transition from inpatient programs to life outside the treatment center
  • Less costly and more flexible than inpatient programs
  • Continuation of your treatment and recovery plan

New Vista Behavioral Health designs all our outpatient programs to support a client’s recovery for the greatest odds of success. Support may continue beyond what you would expect to receive from an inpatient treatment alone. You will also gain access to ongoing support opportunities once you leave our outpatient treatment.
